This includes our ZuBar balustrade. Fabricated from mild steel and powder coated in a colour of choice, this is a cost-effective solution widely used on stair cores and escape stairs. This solution is equipped with a tubular handrail and can be adapted to fit your space requirements, as it can be either side-fixed or top-mounted.

Yes, our balustrade posts are designed to be versatile and can be used outdoors. Each material selection comes with unique advantages, making some better suited for outdoor use than others. 

For example, our mild steel balustrades are powder coated in a colour of your choice, providing a layer of protection from the elements. Similarly, our stainless steel balustrades, which feature glass infills, are available in grade 304 or 316, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Balustrade guidelines are set to ensure safety without compromising aesthetics, though the specific rules will vary depending on your intended application.

If your balustrade is inside a single-family home and safeguards a drop of 600mm or more, it needs to stand at least 900mm tall. For external structures, like balconies or outdoor stairs, the minimum height jumps to 1100mm.

Spacing between posts is another crucial factor. According to Building Regulations 2010, posts of stairs, landings, and balconies should be no more than 2.0m apart, while those on stairways and ramps should be tighter, at a maximum of 1.1m apart.

As part of this, the gaps between balustrade spindles must be designed such that a 100mm sphere fits through the gap – to better enhance safety, especially amongst children.
