ZuGlass is a product within the ZuBalustrades range by Gatehouse Architectural. 

It is a balustrade system featuring a stainless steel handrail with profiled toughened glass infill panels. Depending on the application, ZuGlass balustrades can be supplied in either grade 304 for internal use or grade 316 for external use – and allow for top or side mounding. For added customisation, the toughened glass panels can be supplied with a tint.  

This range can be contrasted with our ZuTrac range, which is our frameless glass balustrade system – housed in an aluminium track.

No, a top rail is not universally required for a glass balustrade, including those that are completely frameless. 

As per the guidelines set in BS6180:2011 Section 8.5.2, a handrail is not mandatory if a specific type of glass construction is utilised. In particular, a top rail is not essential if a laminated toughened glass structure is used, which will stay intact even if a panel fails.
